William and Mordecai Evans House

In 2023 our Society purchased the oldest home, still standing, in the Linfield area of Limerick Township. The house known as the William and Mordecai Evans house started as a log cabin about 1720. An addition was made in 1763. It is listed in the National Register of Historic Places.

It is famous as a stop for General George Washington on September 19, 1777.

We plan to preserve this property that includes a barn and workshop.

Limerick Township purchased the property in 2022 because it adjoins the Linfield Sports Park. The Township recognized the historical importance of the property. The Historic portion of the property was subdivided and offered to sell it to our Historical Society.

Note: This property will only be open for events or by appointment.
