Population totals for Limerick before 1880 include Royersford, since Royersford was not incorporated until 1879. In addition, the population figures for Limerick before 1930 may also include small portions of land that were annexed by Royersford in 1904, 1909, and 1924.
All population figures listed above ultimately derive from the official statistics gathered by the U.S. Census Bureau and its predecessors. Figures for 1800 and 1840 have been verified against the official census reports.
While Limerick was included in the 1790 census, it was lumped into the category “remainder of county”; therefore, it is impossible to tell which individuals and households in 1790 were for residents of the township.
